Formulated in Switzerland, Cyspera®’s active ingredient is cysteamine hydrochloride, a strong antioxidant that is naturally present in the human breast milk. It is safe, non-cytotoxic and produced as a result of cysteine metabolism, a sulfur-containing amino acid. Cysteamine’s targeted action reduces melanin in the skin epidermis, hence effectively correcting pigmented marks. When used consistently, it helps to lighten brown spots and promotes a more even skin tone.
How to use Cyspera®?
As Cyspera® aims to continually fade and prevent new dark spots, the recommended treatment plan is once a day for 3-4 months and then twice a week for maintenance purposes.
Apply a thin layer of Cyspera® on unwashed face for 15 minutes before washing it off with a cleaner. Upon application, there may be a slight sulphuric odour due to rapid cysteamine oxidation. This is perfectly normal and harmless.
A high SPF sunblock and moisturizer should be used for sun damage protection and skin hydration. The beauty of this cream lies in soft skin, even with daily usage. There is no dryness or peeling.
Who else should try Cyspera®?
Patients who have tried several laser modality or pharmaceutical grade topical to no avail should consider Cyspera® as a treatment alternative.
In some cases, Cyspera® is proven to be more effective in patients who are suffering from stubborn melasma but does not seem to react well with agents like hydroquinone. All skin colours are suitable for Cyspera®.
Are there any side effects with Cyspera®?
In some cases, some slight redness or tingling sensation may occur but these are perfectly normal during the initial days of application.
However, such precautions must be exercised:
- Face to be washed more than 1 hour before Cyspera®
- A recommended exposure time of 15 minutes
- Concomitant use with other treatments (only when skin has healed after laser or micro-needling procedures)
